Not really I'm sure it's part of their overall master plan, everything is moving to internet based, as Google has proven with their online services. I think the basic OS will be very light and most programs will be added from the internet on demand like plug-ins. So all they are really going to need for an OS is to be able to run a browser, Chrome.
Reports are that it will be based on the Linux kernel, be Open Source and free.
