Hey guys,

Sorry for this being my first post on the forum but i just wanna get this damn thing fixed ;S if i can.

I got a problem with my Monitors and for the life of me i cannot work it out! If you guys can work this out i would be in total astonishment as to how the hell you knew how to do it :S

Ok here goes:

I was running the BETA test version of WIN7 when i got an email from Microsoft saying i needed to install the retail version by March 1st yadda yadda yadda.... this isn't the problem but i think explaining this might give you guys a clue as to what the hell is wrong.

So, i installed the Retail Version of Win7 and both monitors are going along nicely in Dual mode during the install. (they are both plugged into a Sapphire 4890 at this time) The first section of the install goes along fine, then it reboots. When it reboots for the second phase of the install they are both working fine. Then on the last reboot which is the time when windows starts up for the first time my Smaller Monitor (BenQ FP567s) is the only one on. (still plugged into my 4890) I then shutdown my pc and pull out the BenQ and leave my Larger monitor (ACER AL2216W) in and nothing comes up @ the POST. But i can hear it all running fine and starting windows. So i shut down the PC and leave the ACER out and put the BenQ in. The BenQ works fine.

My next step was to Plug my ACER into the Onboard GeForce vidcard and have my BenQ in the 4890. On reboot my BenQ starts up but the ACER doesnt. When in windows i go into my display options and set my BenQ as the 2nd monitor and the ACER as the Primary so that i can run dual monitors again. I am thinking then that if i swap the Monitors around and reboot that they will have fixed themselves. ACER then being in the 4890 and the BenQ in the Onboard. NOPE, the POST starts up and both monitors are off. While hte PC is still on i swap the monitors around in the Ports and they start up.

So basically.

-BenQ runs fine @ POST and OS if plugged in the 4890 but not if plugged in the Onboard
-ACER runs fine @ POST and OS if plugged in the Onboard but not if plugged in the 4890

Things i have tryed:

1. Taken CMOS Battery out for 30mins
2. Taken Video Card out and put back in
3. Tryed Disabling my onboard and having both in my Main Video Card
4. Tryed changing priorities in the BIOS as to which my main vid card is

still nothing.

my next step will be Try putting in my Sapphire 4870 from work and see if it works.

anyone heard of this happening for?

I am over it. if you got anymore questions ill be more than happy to answer them.

Thanks for you time in advance guys!

t0rne

Im sorry but this is a new one to me. I havent ran into this anywhere and i cant think of any miracle solution. Disabling the onboard video was the first thing that came to mind but i see that you've already done that. Im at a loss here.

I worked it out. Turns out it was my DVI output on my Monitor. I pluged in a VGA cable into my VGA output and put on an adaptor to my vid card and it fixed the problem.

never heard of a DVI output screwing up :S
