Will my Toshiba P755-S5270 be able to run Skyrim?

Postby TemporalShrew » Sat Dec 03, 2011 2:56 am

I'm planning on buying a Toshiba Satellite (P755-S5270) and am a bit uneducated when it comes to electronics. I was wondering if it could run Skyrim at medium to high settings. Here's a link to the computer and specs. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0054QJ3TY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2
I'm also open to recommendations for other gaming computers under $1000 that can run Skyrim. Thanks.

Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5-2410M dual-core processor (2.9 GHz with Turbo Boost Technology; 3 MB L3 cache)

Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M with 1 GB of GDDR3 discrete graphics memory (3793 MB of total available graphics memory) plus Optimus Technology for switching between discrete and integrated graphics for battery management

Memory: 6 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (1333 MHz; expandable to 8 GB)

The Escapist wrote:The minimum PC requirements, as tweeted by Bethesda's Pete Hines:

Dual-core CPU, 2.0 GHz or faster
2 GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c video card with 512 MB RAM
6 GB HDD space
Windows XP/Vista/7 [32 or 64-bit]
Internet access for Steam activation

And the recommended spec:

Quad-core CPU
4 GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c video card with 1 GB RAM - GTX 260/Radeon 4890 or higher
6 GB HDD space
Windows XP/Vista/7, internet access, etc.

It should run it fairly easily. Just be mindful, as with any notebook, that they do get hot much faster than a desktop. Cooling pads are good investments, knowing you intend to game i'd strongly suggest you get one.
