upgade 7 to 64bit

Postby dollhobbs » Sat Jun 06, 2015 3:39 pm

I had vista 32 bit installed and tried upgrading to win7 64bit and received the message "your version of windows isn't compatable" so I installed the 32 bit win 7 and tried again. I got exactly the same message when i stated the 64bit disk. What am I doing wrong? I have the upgrade version of both the win7 32 and 64bit disks.

You can not do a windows upgrade from a 32 bit system to a 64 bit system, an upgrade has to be the same bit system as the one already installed.

If you start with a 32 bit system you can only upgrade to a 32 bit system, if you start with a 64 bit system you can only upgrade to a 64 bit system
