A Question and some Comments

Postby Junior_co » Sat Dec 04, 2004 9:39 am

First of all the comments.

1: Thanks :!: to everyone for the help given during my Thanks-Giving day delema... as of now our computer is up and running without any MAJOR problems and (more importantly) me better half is happy....

2: This is a great site and seems awful friendly. I think I will enjoy hangin' around, if you'll have me....

Now the question.... :?:

I have pretty much taught myself everything I know about computers ( which is NOT alot) But I build up my computers (usually without much help if any)

However, I think it is now time that I learn more.... Ya know, get into the nitty gritty a bit more, have some more of an understanding on what's goin on in there, and bring myself up a little be closer to ya'll's level of greatness (my feeble attempts to butter ya up).....

As this would mostly be a hobby type thing, I wouldn't want to spend money on formal schooling. What books, web sites, or anything else would you recomend...?

Thanks again....

Hey Junior_co

Your are of course more than welcome to hang out here as long as you wish,we would like to see all our members stick around. This site has an enourmous amount of information pass through it on a daily basis, its a great place to be for those wanting to learn.I have learned alot of things from here and theres definatly room for more. There's alot of self-help forums and sites on the net,but i havent found one with a better enviroment, mods and members than this one. Some of the others here might have a few sites to recommend,it kinda depends on the area your interested in.

Linux is great ..setting it up can be a real pain.Luckly, theres several great sites to help.

Obviously this one
-very busy site

you can always google for "linux help" or "linux Info" for more

For Hijack, google is your best friend. Here's something you can do..Open a post in the HJT forum that has been answered

I just done one.

Go over the logfile then look at the recommended fix.You can take a filename, such as "winse.exe" and run it through google, usually within the first 2 or 3 results you can find out just what that file does.Try it out and see what you come up with, try it with several different ones in different post.Compare several post and fixes, search some filenames and you will start to see how it works.

Hope that helps you out.
