I woke up this morning and a thought ran through my head. I live in a small community of about 2000 people, people who are basically computer illiterate. They have basic skills but I often hear them say they would like to take a course in being a pc specialist. As we all know courses cost money, sometimes into the thousands of dollars. Then it struck me, if a person came into a site like this for one hour a day and picked one particular forum such as security, I am sure within a couple days they would know how to protect their pc better than Fort Knox can protect gold.

The solutions to most peoples pc problems are found on sites like this and its free. The only sad thing is not many people come back and let you know if the solution worked. But the bright side is if they didnt come back you can assume that the problem was fixed. Of course you dont graduate from a tech forum or get a diploma that says you know how to run a pc but hey we do get bright little stars and a free education.

I think from now on when someone asks me to recommend a place to learn about pc's Im just going to send them here. Daniel

Thanks for the compliment. For myself, I became MCSE certified by hanging out on sites like this and asking questions. It is the reason why I started such a site. It is my way of giving back.

I do wish people would return more. Just to hang and chat and make fun of me. But hopefully in time we can build up a community of people who all make fun of me.
