Stupid things we did

Postby badpolarbear » Mon Feb 07, 2005 8:17 pm

Do you remember when you got your first computer and were just learning? Was there anything stupid you did?

I remember just three short years ago I had no idea what I was doing. When ever I was chatting with people and they sent me a link I would get out my trusty paper and pen and write the whole link down then do a search and type the whole link in. Oh boy.

Lets hear what you did.

I remember when I built my new PC about a month ago. I did not see that my Motherboard Tray had built in risers and I put risers in regardless lol. Obviously everything stuck otu to far and nothing would line up with the ports on the back of the PC. Also about 3 years ago, I was sitting on my parent's computer and i was eating a freezie and I was holding it up with my teeth, because i was typing, and then it slipped, fell over and juice EVERYWHERE ON THE KEYBOARD. I told them I did them a favor because it was a Compaq Keyboard lol!

about 7-8 years ago I was upgrading my first home built PC (pentium 75, external 28.8 modem, 24X CD drive, a tape drive for backup, I can still hear it whir) with a second hard drive, and after the install, I could not get Win95 to find or recognize the drive. It was a Maxtor drive, and I believe maxblast software...anyway, no luck. Maxtor sent out a new drive after assuring correct jumper settings, etc. and still nothing. It took me two weeks of frustration to realize that it was simply an IDE cable not pushed down tightly. I felt very stupid and I still have the original unused second drive, as a sort of reminder.
