wireless g/b?

Postby ansmwke » Fri Apr 01, 2005 10:24 pm

I was looking at different wireless bundles and i found the dlink wireless air plus xtremeG. It seems to be a really good one, but it says the router is fully compatible with 802.11b. Does that mean i can access the internet through that router with my dlink 802.11b pc card?

Nice reply... now to brush off some dust...

You can set up the access pointnot to allow b connections. If you have a b connection connected to the network it slows down all the g connections. When you run in g only mode or there are only g's connected to the access point you will get better speeds. Just because they are same frequencies does not mean that the data comes across the same ;)
