Windows 7 Release Candidate Announcement

Microsoft announced that on Tuesday, May 5 (PST), the RC will be available to everyone via our Customer Preview Program. As with the Beta, the Windows 7 RC Customer Preview Program is a broad public program that offers the RC free to anyone who wants to download it. It will be available at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys available.

Sounds intresting. Psymon was on about getting this, i may get it to kill some time. I already have a 30 gig partition spare..

i havent done alot of reading on it yet but it appears to be vista with a little more eye candy. Instead of needing 1.5 gigs of ram i guess this one will need 2..lol

I finished downloading and burning a 64bit version to DVD last night. Just waiting for a HDD I can install it on now. :)

bet if you try it on older system gecko it will kill it LOL!

It didn't kill the old system but windows7 had trouble with the video drivers.
Sometimes it would boot to the desktop just fine and sometimes it would through a BSOD with an IRQL error with the video drives as the fault file.
I even tried a newer video card in hopes that would resolve the problem but it didn't.
I have another newer system I will try it on when I get time.
It looks to me like Windows7 use less resources than Vista does, but this is also a release candidate so that could all change.

i think windows 7 is suppose to have far much less resources then vista.. main problem with vista is that it used FAR too much memory then was really required. I think in windows 7 they solved this issue so im looking forward to windows 7 as i feel it will be a better OS then Vista overall !
