Win ME and Explorer.exe errors

Postby CanadianTek » Wed Sep 01, 2004 5:54 pm

Got a problem with a Windows ME system

Getting

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module Explorer.exe at 0177:00401f31

i followed the instructions on the Microsoft website and it said..

that if you removed the explorer.exe file.. it should boot... and self diagnose/repair/replace the explorer.exe file

but.. now it just boots and says..

you need to reinstall Windows..

.... should i give up the fight before i begin...

is there any magical website out there that lets you download / extract just the

explorer.exe file.. (like the dll files .. from dll-files.com )??

Appreciate your responses.. insight, assistance thanx

Does it show you the required .DLL file after clicking OK?

E.G. A required .DLL file, C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSVCRT.DLL, was not found.

Microsoft has an article about this exact error and how to recover from it.
