Error in Explorer.exe on my bro's comp

Hey. My brother was getting rid of adware on his 98 OS and when uninstalling he uninstalled explorer (uh-oh!!). I tried everything I could. We tried reinstalling windows but we kept getting the same ol' error message, saying that Explorer.exe was corrupted. Everytime I click OK it goes blank and I must restart. I tried pasting mine into his, and wasnt able to. He has 16-color graphics with no internet too. All that works is network with internet (If I need to get somthing).

Would there be any possible solutions without him losing the whole partition?

You could try extracting Explorer from the Win98 CD.
Boot from a Windows 98 startup disk, type 1 and then press ENTER.
Record the drive letter assigned to your computer's CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.

At the command prompt type Ext and then press ENTER.
The Microsoft Extract Command Line Helper starts.

At the Please enter the path to the Windows CAB files, type CD drive:\win98, ("D:\win98") and then press ENTER.

At the Please enter the name(s) of the file(s) you want to extract: message, type Explorer.exe, and then press ENTER.

At the Please enter the path to extract to message, type C:\Windows, and then press ENTER.

At the Is this okay? (y/n) message, type y, and then press ENTER.

The file is extracted to the specified directory.
Remove the Windows 98 startup disk, and then restart the computer.
