Scandisk Windows ME

:roll: I have tried to 'defrag' my disk,and started with the 'Scandisk' to check for faults. This is interrupted with the notice" Scandisk has restarted 10 times because Windows or another programme has been writing to this drive". Trying the Nortons disk Doctor,a repetitive notice " Unable to operate on C Drive because it is in use by Unknown disk utility.What next can I do please ?

You should turn off all running apps. and then try. Turn off any AV's and your screensavers. The easiest way to do the Scandisk/defrag though is to restart in "Safe Mode" and run them again.

I had the same problem, so i just ended re-formatting my C:\ .. At least now i can play games and surf the internet (when my computer works that is)
