To edit the System.INI you can open it with Notepad or use Start / Run / Type sysedit. Click on the System.ini header.
Look under [386Enh].
The line you're looking for should be: device=*vcd
Are there other entries with vcd?
If there is another line with *vcd try putting a semicolon directly in front of device. that will "REMove" the line but if that wasn't the problem, you can simply add it back by editing out the semicolon.
If there's only one entry check to see if it's written as stated above.
Don't forget to click on "Save" before exiting.
Let us know what you find. brad

Ok there was TWO instances there so I added the Colan and it now works fine.

Here's another problem I would like to fix....

On the PC there is only the ON/OFF button on the front and NO power button on the back of the PC.

When I goto the START-SHUTDOWN it doesn't shut down completely.
I have to shut it down after with the Power button on the front.

How do I set it so that when I shut down through the StartShutdown the Monitor and the PC shut down?

When you ask anew question, you really should start a new topic.
There are many reasons for your shutdown issue. Here's a good review in a forum post: .

One thing to check is in the power applet of control panel, check that 'apm' is enabled :)
