XP Profiles issue

Postby dravenUk » Mon Dec 10, 2012 2:49 pm

Hi guys. I'm trying to fix a PC for a friend. This PC was virus'd to hell and back, programs taking ages to start, or simply not starting and Xp itself not always wanting to boot. Got a repair done via an XP disc that got stability to the system then managed to clean out a ton of malware and some nasty viral problems (pulled the drive out, slaved it to my other PC and ran the scans from there). With the drive back in the original PC Windows now loads smoothly and there are no viral or malware warnings. However, the original profiles no longer show up on the usual profile select screen (PC loads straight to desktop with an admin profile). If I run compmgmt.msc I can see all the profiles under the users and groups section but they don't show up during boot up. I also appear to have a Windows.0 directory as well as the Windows one - is it booting from the .0 and that's why the profiles don't show - how do I change that?

Thanks in advance
