I seem to be losing my mind and cant remember things

At one time I had a program for removing items from msconfig\startup. The are some things like Newnet.start etc that I have removed from my system but the names are still in startup. Any ideas? Daniel

Many ways.
Regedit /HKEY_LOCAL _MACHINE (Or CURRENT USER) / Software / Microsoft / Windows / Current Version / Run
or use or and I'm sure there are many more.

let me be a little more clear.

I know how to get rid of the stuff from HKEY areas. But once they are gone I go back to msconfig\startup and the text for the program is there. I want to remove the text from startup. The programs are no longer running but I see they are still in the text form in start up. How do I get rid of the text

The text should be gone if deleted in the registry.
Sure they aren't in the Windows Startup folder?
If not try your Registry clean-up tools.

In your Registry Editor, press Ctrl F to bring up the Find dialogue.
Type "RunServices" in the box, look for your app in the results.
If you haven't found the app, press F3 again to find the next RunServices folder.
Continue in this manner until you receive the message "Finished searching through the registry."
