Cookies and Temporary Internet Files

Postby badpolarbear » Fri Mar 19, 2004 7:57 pm

I am a firm believer in deleting cookies and temp inernet files. The only problem is when I do that it takes forever to relaod my web site and this page. Is there a way to keep the cookies or temp files so I dont have to go through that all the time? Can I open the files put a check mark in the hidden box and that would keep them and stop them from being deleted? Daniel

In IE / Tools Internet Options / Privacy Tab / Click on the "Edit" button to setup which cookies to keep.
There are also some very good third-party apps. that will do all of this for you, like .

Another good one is called Empty Temp Folder:

I have used Empty Temp Folders for a long time but now have another one that I really like called Window Washer. This program is not free but is very nice.

re: temp folder

Ok here's whats happening.

When I empty temp Internet files and I go back to my personal web page it takes forever to load back up again. I went onto the temp files settings and increased the amount of space temp files takes up on the hard drive from 608mb to 2000 mb. I have a 20 gig hard drive with 17gigs left.. This seems to have helped some what but I had another idea. I noticed there was a button that said move these files. Could I not move the files to another temp file folder so that when I do delete temp internet files that I dont lose the ones for my personal web page?

The second part of this question is:

I have been trying to find a way to upload my personal web site to a space allowed me by my server. I have cuteftp. Could I not do a fresh start up with temp files deleted, then open open my web site, allow it to load then take the temp files and load them into cute ftp then upload them to the site?

Im sorry for being such a pain in the butt. Daniel

Did you add your site to Managed Web Sites?

Also, under IE / Tools / Internet Options / TIF / Settings / what do you have the refresh rate set to?

By "Refresh Rate" I mean: IE / Tools / Internet Options / General Tab / TIF / Settings /
