...the add/remove list wasssssssssssss populated.. then
did remove ibis toolbar, vx2, virtumondo and e-accelerator spies/malware.. via Ad-aware and spybot.. (308 occurences)
AVG is the AV that is running.. yet.. on a reboot..
i got .. "Symantec Live Update has encountered an error.. " etc..
so i then went into add/remove.. to take them out.. and
BLANK
nothing there..
Did a search.. here.. no results.. - looked thru a few ...pages of past forum submissions in the win 98/ME section here, back as far as May 2004.. didnt see any titles or similar problems...
googled same issues.. found a couple ... but widely miss understood that the Add/Remove programs icon is missing from control panel.. WHEN INFACT.. icon isssssss there.. - just when you fire it up it is blank - nothing populates the list of programs
sooooooooooo i ran reg mechanic.. - which fixed.. 249 problems..
BUTTTT now the only thing that shows up in add/remove.. is of course.. Reg Mech.
When i went to go to nortons and symantec folders.. there was no
NAVuninst, no uninstall, not even "setup" - which i know in some versions is the way you get to go into nortons to a) repair, b) install and c) uninstall..
sooooooooooooo im a little stumped..
only thing i found was.. luuinst to uninstall the live update.. but the icon for nav is on the desktop and the full folder is there.. not sure if it is running in hidden mode or not
my biggest concern is.. did avg have a conflict with nav hense maybe why system was vulnerable.. (had 28 viri in _restore folders.. now since removed after turning off system restore.. which is actually done by removing the check mark from the disable system restore option ..... :S go figure )
ME is fully patched.. up to date..
would like to repopulate the add remove.. but dont want to have to go thru entire program folder.. reinstalling things..
went into registry.. found this ..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
...and the only entries here.. were.. reg mech, spysweeper and oeupdates from ms
ANY TOOLs, tricks, tips, techniques... ADVICE (without reformatting) WOULD be greatly appreciated..
