DVD-RW uninstalled and can't get it back!

Postby Yushiro » Wed Dec 10, 2003 8:13 pm

Hi, recently installed Alcohol 120% which installed a virtual drive...and that overwrote my DVD-RW drive. Uninstalled the virtual drive hoping the dvd-rw would come back. It didn't. Rebooted, scanned for hardware, no luck.
What do I do?

Is the DVD drive still listed in "Device Manager"? If so, try removing it and reboot so Windows will detect it. Then reinstall drivers.
If it isn't there can you run it's setup.exe? brad

sorry brad, posted at the same time.BTW,Alcohol 120 doesn't make good backups.Clone CD with Cloney XXL works much better. If your after DVD backups try DVD X Copy.Alcohol produces a backup that requires emulation to play. The others dont.

Thanks for the replies, I got it working now anyway :) just needed another reboot...
No it wasn't listed in device manager, at the time of posting i'd rebooted 2-3 times and taken unplugged/replugged the dvd drive in with no luck...it's just one of those random things I suppose. Thanks anyway, oh, and for the tip about alcohol, I don't plan on using it again! :)
