Lost Hotmail functionality...

Postby freelobotomy » Sat Dec 04, 2004 4:48 pm

Hi All,
For about 3 weeks, I've been unable to actually view any email in my Hotmail account. I can log in and get to the Mail folder but my mouse cursor won't "change" as I roll over messages. I click to no avail, heh. I end up having to use the task manager to shut down IE since even trying to close the window doesn't work. I ran Trend Micro last night and it found 5 problems which I let it remove but I still have the same problem. AdAware & Spybot didn't find anything. Could you look this over and see if anything looks "fishy"?
Thanks

Your log file looks clean except for this:

O1 - Hosts: 64.91.255.87 www.dcsresearch.com

Also your AVG6 is going to end of life at the end of December. You may want to install AVG7.

Other then that I would try another browser to see if it works.

Also.. have you cleaned out your temp files?

Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete files

I guess you have.

Other than that ... have you tried accessing your hotmail accounts through another mail program? I use Incredimail for my Hotmail... very frowned upon.. but I like it and it does the job. I think Outlook Express can access Hotmail too.

Also, I get strange messages sometimes now through Incredimail telling me it couldn't check my Hotmail as it is no longer a free service.. I have to pay Hotmail money supposedly... but then it will work fine the next time it checks... if Incredimail doesn't work try another mail program that checks Hotmail :)

Try making your homepage something other than msn.com, then uninstalling msn messanger. See if it works then...
