Can someone check this log?

Is your PC infected? Is it running slow? Just can't figure out what's making it sluggish? Here is the place to get some help.

im not really sure what registry keys/files are or how to back them up or restore them so i'd probably do more harm than good. ive also realised that a lot of links on the internet arent working, for example the delete messages link in hotmail. i also cant view my messages. nothing happens when i click on this link. maybe when i fixed or deleted some files, some important files in my system were lost? so far i have the problem with search in windows, windows media player and these links on the internet. any suggestions on how i can fix these? i'd rather not format and reinstall windows because i have a lot of large music and video files that would take a long time to back up on to disk.

thanks

The first step of the process from the Microsoft help isn't difficult and isn't going to harm anything, it's merely making sure something is there and runs correctly. It's worth a shot and may be an indicator or a clue as to what is going on.

Have the Windows Media Player and Search Assistant been fixed by doing that? I take it they haven't.
