HijackThis log

Postby Dave_Lethal » Mon Aug 14, 2006 6:32 pm

This computer is brand new, updates and protection installed, if I have something already I'm gonna be mad

I don't know why the Microsoft website won't let me download anything, I always use IE when I'm at Microsoft websites.

EDIT: I'm getting the page cannot be displayed when I try to download the Genuin Advantage tool (I am using a brand new, legal copy of Windows)

Also when I try to download WMP 11 Beta and the new IE

Your log is clean

It could be your security settings for IE are too high.
Have you allowed all active-X from Microsoft?

You might try adding Microsoft.com to your trusted site list:
Start > Control panel > Internet Options > Security tab > click on the trusted sites icon > click the sites button.

Yeah the active X controls are ok.

I'm having the same problem on my other computer.

Isn't there some kind of thing where you register dll's from Run? dllRegisterServerd or something like that?

Yes the actual command would be:
regsvr32 <path & filename of .dll or .ocx>

Active-X control files have an .ocx file extension.

I'm not sure which files need to be registered or whatever, I know I've done it once before on my mom's Dell, they couldn't get onto MSN and certain other sites. I typed in like 5 or 6 dlls and it said something like DLLRegisterServer successful or something like that after each one. I got that info from some other site via a google search on the problem. Couldn't find it today. Any idea what that may have been? I don't know what else to do...
