Hello madcap73, and welcome to our forum.
You have a number of infections going on so your best bet would be to use a programe to get most of them.
Please copy this to Notepad and save it to your desktop or print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
Please download AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 from and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program
1. Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
2. Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.
3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
4. Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
6. Under "Reports"
* Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
* Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.
Reboot your computer into SafeMode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning:
1. Lauch AVG Anti-Spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
2. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
3. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
4. If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
5. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
6. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
7. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode and post the results of the AVG Anti-Spyware report scan in your reply a long with a new hijackthis log.

Thanks for the help,
Last night, after you posted your reply I followed the directions exactly but was not given the option to save a report. It did find a file that was infected. I reran the scan tonight and was able to generate a report. I have also rerun HJT and included the log.
I just looked in the quarantine section to inform you of the exact file but it looks as if it has been removed.
Please let me know what else needs to be done as I am still recieving the popup message "Windows Security Alert - Potential..blah..blah..blah"

Last night, after you posted your reply I followed the directions exactly but was not given the option to save a report. It did find a file that was infected. I reran the scan tonight and was able to generate a report. I have also rerun HJT and included the log.
I just looked in the quarantine section to inform you of the exact file but it looks as if it has been removed.
Please let me know what else needs to be done as I am still recieving the popup message "Windows Security Alert - Potential..blah..blah..blah"

Warning these instructions are for this thread only!
You should never attempt to use them for anything else!
Please copy this to Notepad and save it to your desktop or print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any other open windows when you are following the procedures below.
Please download to your desktop but do not run it yet..
Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)
printer.exe
WinAvXX.exe
system.exe
autorun.exe
Start HijackThis and click "Do a system scan only" put a check next to each of the following entries:
F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\printer.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinAVX] C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinAvXX.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinAVX] C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinAvXX.exe
O4 - Startup: system.exe
O4 - Global Startup: autorun.exe
O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
O7 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\stdole32.dat
Now click the "Fixed checked" button and then close HijackThis
Reboot into Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Click Start, click My computer and then right click on your C: drive and select "Properties"
Now click the "Disk cleanup" button, in the next window put a check next to Recycle Bin, Temporary Internet Files and Temporary Files click OK and then click yes in the popup window.
Click killbox.exe, now select the option "Delete on reboot".
Now click on the "All files" button (it will turn green)
Next copy the below red part:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\printer.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\WinAvXX.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\stdole32.dat
Click 'File' in the killbox Menu on top and choose Paste from clipboard
Now click the red X icon to delete these files on reboot
Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be removed on next reboot and asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES
If you don't get that message, reboot manually.
Once your system has rebooted post a new HiJackThis log when you reply.
