Requesting help for slow machine

I am trying to fix up a friends machine.... it is running really slow. Ive run spybot and adaware, I will attach hijackthis log, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Please download to your desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

Do not exit Combofix while it is running you my loose all your personal settings!
Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running, that may cause it to stall.

When it's done running it will produce a log for you. Please post that log in your next reply.

Thank you Gecko. I downloaded and ran that combofix.. got an error that it detected antivius software running "Norton Internet Protection". I was unable to find any thing running anywhere in order to shut it off.. and combofix still ran (didnt see a cancel button) It went thru the entire thing, believe it was at completed step 50, and there was about a 5 line log it seemed, but the machine was frozen.. all icons had disappeared and the combofix window wasnt responding, so I couldnt copy/paste or save the log. I rebooted the machine... still very slow to load up, very slow to open any programs, and very slow to open up internet explorer and navigate to home page. I did not want to run combofix again before consulting you. Thank you for your help.

I'm sorry that you had trouble running Combofix.

It is common to have combofix look as though it is not responding when in fact it is still working, I have seen the steps go as high as 150.

If Combofix did create a log it would be found at C:\ComboFix.txt.
If it is there pleas post it here.

If you do not have a combofix.txt file then yes please run combofix again.
Please realize that it can take a couple of hours for Combofix to finish if the system is badly infected.
