This has been happening for over a week now (never using Kazaa again!), and it's awful.

Have tried Spybot and Adaware too, but it keeps coming back and severing my connection.

here is the log as requested....please can you make any instructions easy to follow, as I am not an expert....not a total beginner either!

Many thanks all

Gaz

Before some people answer your question, I would like to ONLY suggest that when i did search for my log info, i somewhere read about this freeserve.com kazza spyware(plus whatever else it sticks on ur computer). There are 4 (including urs) searches available that includes freeserve.com info. Maybe its similiar to yours. Before anyone replies, if ur very desperate, take a look, maybe it be of some help. I don't really do much with hijack files but:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotXXX] C:\WINDOWS\HotXXX.exe -n
needs to be removed.

You are running two Anti-Virus Programs. (AVG and Norton) This can cause some conflict issues. I strongly advise uninstalling on or the other.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

browse.exe
HotXXX.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.freeserve.com/iesearch/default.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.pureseeker.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Freeserve
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Messanger] C:\WINDOWS\browse.exe /i
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotXXX] C:\WINDOWS\HotXXX.exe -n
O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.freeserve.com/

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\browse.exe
C:\WINDOWS\HotXXX.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.
