Postby caboosejjs » Thu Aug 12, 2004 10:58 pm

I just started working on a HP notebook that is shutting down whenever running some applications. I witnessed it for myself whenever I was running Spybot. I beleive it was scanning Adgoblin at the time when it shutdown. I noticed a few RAX dialers and xxx dialers whenever spybot was running. This is the log after running Adaware and Spybot.

Hi...can you please download the newer 1.98.2 version from here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe

Run HJT again and post a new logfile.

Important---Create a permanent folder
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.

Hi Cactus, I thought i had the older version in a permanent folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\Maintenance\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe
By default hijack is saving my files to the local settings/temorary file. Even since running this program again from the folder you told me to creat My Documents/hijackthis, hijack saved the file to the temp directory. But i have moved it to a the permanet folder in My Docements even though this log says its in a temp directory. Here we go again

Well I don't see anything Trojan or Virus related in you're logfile.
You might want to clean-up a few unnecessary programs, like the HP applications that seem to be a little overwhelming in your log.

Check to see which are needed and which ones aren't.
Then remove them from Add/Remove Programs.
