Here's my problem. I was gone for one weekend. My computer was off the whole time. I get back today and start it up. I connect to aim and suddenly my Panda Anti Virus says I got a virus and that it was taken care of, but it's not because I still have this problem. For some reason there is something covering my desktop wallpaper. I know it's covering it because i move my menu toolbar thing with the start button on it over to the side and I can see the wallpaper, but the stupid ad or whatever it is just stretches out and covers it. I right clicked on the desktop and went to properties to see if I could just change my wallpaper back to what it normally was, but the desktop tab is gone. The only tabs there are screen saver and settings.

The thing covering my desktop appears to be some kind of ad for an anti spyware program or something. It says warning your computer may be infected blah blah blah. I'm hoping Hijackthis can solve this problem easily so here is my log file. Thank you.

I just restarted my computer hoping the stupid wallpaper thing would go away, but I just made it worse I guess. Now It's like flashing from the stupid ad to a plain black screen to a plain white screen to my original wallpaper. And now this message keeps poping up saying that some file is missing and that file is needed to run Active Desktop. It's really starting to get annoying.

Is this what your wallpaper looks like now?

If so, than it is the Desktophijack trojan that you have, this is a nasty one depending on the version.

It looks like Panda Antivirus may have fixed most of it.

To get your wall paper back:
Click Start > Run Type regedit Click OK.
First make a backup of the registry File > Export name it and save it just in case.

Now navigate to the subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
In the right pane, delete the value:
"intell32.exe" = "%System%\intell32.exe"

Navigate to and delete the following subkeys:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{357A87ED-3E5D-437d-B334-DEB7EB4982A3}
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Internet Update

Navigate to the subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer
In the right pane, reset the value:
"NoActiveDesktopChanges" = "1"

Navigate to the subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\System
In the right pane, reset the values:
"NoDispBackgroundPage" = "1"
"NoDispAppearancePage" = "1"

Navigate to the subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
In the right pane, reset the values:
"Wallpaperstyle" = "0"
"Wallpaper" = "%SystemRoot%\%System%\wppp.html"

Reboot your system your wallpaper should be back if so post a new HijackThis log.

I havn't run ad-aware on my computer in a while, I know I'm stupid. Last night I did that and it got rid of that stupid ad right away. You are right by the way, that is the exact ad that was covering my desktop. Most of the stuff you told me to delete were already gone, I'm guessing from ad-aware. Some of the stuff was still there, so I deleted them. My wallpaper is fine now.

I restarted my computer and there are still some things that bug me. The first one is this virus that Panda Anti Virus is still telling me I have. (Trj/Zerolin.D located in c:\documents and settings\wesker\local settings\temporary internet files\content.ie5\gd2rkpqf\main[1.].chm) It says the file has been moved to quarantine. The second one is this PSguard icon that appears on my desktop when I restart, and it is automatically running the program on reboot. I went to ADD/REMOVE programs and got rid of it, but it won't go away. The third problem is this little icon in the icon tray. It's a red bubble with a white exlamation point in it. When I right click it, it says "Your computer is infected click here to protect your computer from spyware / virus threat." Here is my new log file.

Please copy this to Notepad and print it. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
You should not have any open windows when you are following the procedures below.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following:
(They may or may not be there)
intell32.exe
PSGuard.exe
gglib.exe
uninstIU.exe

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Remember to reset these when done.
Delete the following Files/Folders if they exist:
C:\Program Files\PSGuard\PSGuard.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\intell32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\oleext.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\oleext32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wppp.html
C:\WINDOWS\System32\gglib.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\WinStat11.dll
C:\WINDOWS\uninstIU.exe

If you cannot delet any of the above files then:
Start HijackThis and click the Open the misc tools section now click Delete a file on reboot
Select the above files to be deleted on reboot:
Click open but click no to reboot now do the same for each of the files:
On the last file click yes to delete, then empty all your TEMP Folders, Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your Recycle Bin,
Now click yes to reboot now in the HijackThis reboot now window.

Reboot and post a new HiJackThis log.
