Hi, my computer has been hijacked by super-spider/solongas/here4search. I downloaded hijack this and scanned the computer. I would be emotionally devoted to the person who could look at my log and help me find out what to delete so that I could peacefully run my home office and check my e-mail.

Grab CWShredder - it takes care of most IE hijack applications. You can grab it from here: http://spywareinfo.com/~merijn/downloads.html

I'd also get and run the following two applications (Making sure to update them before you run).

Spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org

AD-Aware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

We have downloaded and continually run Spybot, Adaware, Hijackthis, Sygate, AOL spyware protector, and numerous other security software. I believe the problem lies in the fact that the hijacking systems have backup facilities. So, the security software deletes the viruses, but anytime we start up our browser or restart the computer, the backup files enact and the virus returns.

Could someone look at the above log and tell us what files are safe to delete so that we may get rid of this virus for once and for all.

I see we aren't the only ones to have this problem. This sucks.

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the following if they are there:

MatrixHere
WinLogin

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wvuurdwvrk8gr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\matrixhere.exe

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reboot.


Run HJT and post a fresh logfile.

After you've finished fixing this problem I strongly recommend that you visit the and download the Critical Updates.

Delete WinLogin.
You'll find it here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\WinLogin

Thank you to all who posted to help. We followed the above advice and the problem was temporarily fixed. Somehow the problem creeped back. It looks like some of the files we fixed are back on the log. Also, the computer refused to let us close and/or delete any winlogin files. Here is the new log...

Boot into "Safe Mode".
Make sure that you can see all Files:

In Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab - Select "Show hidden files and folders" / Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"

Now run HiJackThis and do the following:

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
(This would also include the “GoBack” Program if it is installed.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:
