Just got Linksys wireless router and cards installed in 2 XP desktops and 1 Win2000 laptop. They all work using this wireless router. However, I cannot see the computers on a network as I once could. I used to be able to hit Network Places and then Work Group Computers link and my computers would all show up then I could access them. Now nothing shows up when I hit that link. I check the computer workgroup name and they match. I want to be able to file share. I ran thru the network set up wizards and read all sorts of docs but nothing helps me set up this network. I have ICF activated and firewalls off. I still can't see any home base network from any individual computer. I'm leary of screwing around with this too much longer since I don't want to expose myself to any security risk since I'm new at this by turning on/off firewall security thing. I called Linksys tech help and they won't help since its a microsoft file sharing issues and a microsoft tech said they can't help since I'm using a router. I'm stuck. I was having almost the same problem with my home network instead of typing all the info here ill just give ya the link to the thread. Hope it helps.

okay I checked out that link. I changed the registries to be 0. Not sure how to enable or create any guest accounts. I plugged in the IP addresses for all the PC's in Norton for all the PC's so they won't be blocked. I have XP firewall disabled.

PC 1 shows PC1 and PC2 icons under view workgroup computers but I cannot access PC2 files.

PC2 only shows PC2 under workgroup computers. I'm still missing the boat on this.

OK... I solved my issue just today. Disable your guest accounts they are not needed for your computers to talk to each other. Ill go step by step here even though you may have done some of the things I’m listing. First thing I did was disable my windows firewall on all my machines. I added an IP range in Norton Internet security home networking to cover all my PC's. I installed NetBEUI on all my machines. To install NetBEUI:

1. Insert your Windows XP CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive and then locate the Valueadd\MSFT\Net\NetBEUI folder.

2. Copy the Nbf.sys file to the C:\Windows\\System32\Drivers folder.

3. Copy the Netnbf.inf file to the C:\Windows\Inf hidden folder.

Note To make a hidden folder viewable, follow these steps:
a. Right Click Start, click Explore.
b. Click Tools, click Folder Options, and then click the View tab.
c. Under Advanced Settings, click to select Show hidden files and folders under the Hidden files and folders Folder.

4. Right click on My Network Places and go to properties.

5. Right-click the adapter you want to add NetBEUI to, and then click Properties.

6. On the General tab, click Install.

7. Click Protocol, and then click Add.

8. Click to select NetBEUI Protocol from the list and then click OK.

9. Restart your computer if you are prompted to I didn’t have to.

I made sure that all my computers were under the same workgroup. Right click on my computer hit properties then select the computer name tab, Workgroup: . Then I went to each machine and made sure that all the Network properties were the same. Right click on My Network Places go to properties and then right click on your adapter and select properties. Under the general tab in the "this connection uses the following items block"

-Client for Microsoft networks
-File and print sharing for Microsoft networks
-NetBEUI Protocol
-Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

I made a folder on each computer called netshare and shared it. Then on each machine I opened My Network Places and clicked "View Workgroup Computers" in the network tasks box on the left. I was able to access all my machines from then on. :rox:
