How to add/install a new USB Port (XP Home Edition)

Postby ninjakid » Thu Jun 10, 2004 6:24 pm

Hello,

I am trying to add/install an aditional USB port.

I inserted it into the computer body but when I plug anything like a webcam ect. into the port it does not detect that there is anything pluged into the usb port.

What do I do?

Are there any websites that explain how, or anyone know how or whats wrong?

Any help GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

THANKS!

Normally your O.S. should reconize your new hardware installation. If you tried connecting a webcam to it and it didn't reconize it you may need to go into add\remove hardware and add the device manually. Or you may be having an IRQ conflict.
Right-click on My Computer and select Properties. Switch to the Device Manager tab. If there's a warning sign on the Host Controller you may need to free an IRQ. Click on Properties then Hardware Troubleshooter.
What else have you tried to use through the newly installed adapter card?
