Standby option got disabled

Postby patkim » Sat Jul 31, 2004 9:12 am

Today when I turned on my PC (AMD Athlon 2000, Biostar M7NCG Mobo, Win XP) I found that just before loading windows, it crashed to blue screen and later I started windows with Last known Good config.

Now I find that the ‘StandBy’ & ‘Hibernate’ options are no longer available in Power options. They were available and enabled earlier. The last program I ran was an MS Batch script to run disk defrag and shutdown automatically.
I tried re-installing mobo chipset driver but no luck. Just wondering what could have caused disabling of Standby option, when I did not make any changes to my power options in control panel.

Thanks.

Well, I can't tell you how it happened.
Have you looked in the BIOS to see if APM is enabled?

I read somewhere in windows help that power options like standby, hibernate etc should be supported by computer hardware. So just thought of re-installing chipset & video drivers.
Last good know config successfully brought windows working but without standby feature. As OS seemed to have got corrupted, I thought of re-installing Windows and now I get the standby option back and working. Thanks for your views.
