if the printer is hooked to a USB cable, try re-seating/replacing the cable

if it is hooked up parallel, try to check out the parallel port settings in the bios. My memory is not serving me very well, but I know there are settings for one way/both way communication... is a page i found that explains ecp epp spp, etc

hope that helps you out, if not post again

ok it looks like I found the problem and it's not. I tried uninstalling the software for my backpack CD Writer, and the printer works fine now. I reinstall it printer stops working....

Does anyone have a solution for this?

The program is speedy CD, but I believe the problem is coming from the driver which is a driver for a backpack cd writer.
