Programs not responding....

Postby Junior_co » Tue Jan 11, 2005 7:27 am

OK so here is the situation....

I work in a plant that makes Beer cans... In this plant we have a PC running Windows XP. On this PC there is a program that takes a bunch of pictures of known "good" cans and then takes pictures of all the cans produced. It then compares all the pictures taken to the known "good" cans. when it sees a discrepency, it rejects the "bad" cans...

Just today, this program started "not responding" about every 45min - 1 1/2 hrs.

The CPU is only running about 20-45% usage depending on how fast the equipment is running....

My question is this: In General, what causes a program to "not respond"

While this is (at the moment) a work thing, I've kinda wondered what causes this every time it happens on me home PC as well....

Thanks again for the thoughts and comments...
