It sounds like you need to Update Java for IE7:

Download the latest version of

Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
Click the "Download" button to the right.
Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
The page will refresh.
Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
Then from your desktop double-click on jre-1_6_0_09-windowsi586-p.exe to install the newest version.

that really didn't make any difference, now the error is with jpiexp.dll, the executable file name is "jre-6-windows-i586" not "jre-1_6_0_09-windowsi586-p" though if that matters

I found one person that had the same error and resolved it by doing the following:

Uninstall the java you just installed through the control panel and then reboot the system.
Next launch IE and browse to a web site needing java and let IE download and install the plug-in.

thanks, i downloaded J2SE version 5 update 10 and everything seems to be working fine

well i spoke too soon, right after i downloaded J2SE version 5 update 10, everything worked normally, but now it's doing the same thing again also if i uninstall java then launch a website that needs java ie7 just tells me that i have no java installed, it doesn't offer to search for any plug-ins or downloads
