need help RE: direct x9.0c

good day to all,

I'm newbie here and not that expert regarding PC, i just set-up my pc with xp sp2, it runs well but when i install online games it require's direct x 9.oc so i installed the 9.0c, it says installation complete and now ready to use, but when i run dxdiag, its still 9.0b, please help me on how to update it to 9.0c?

Run dxdiag and click on the direct X files tab.
Under the notes section are there any warnings about outdated files?

Let's see if there is an error being generated during the install that is not showing on the screen.

Go to Start > Control panel > Administrative tools > Event viewer > look in the Application section.

You are looking for any red or yellow icons, double click on the icon.
You are trying to find something related to direct X
Click inside the 'Description' section then highlight the text and copy and paste it into notepad.
At the bottom of the event window check 'words' and then copy and paste that text also
Then past it all into your reply to this thread.

If you don't show any errors in the event viewer then:
Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > check the box 'Write an event to the system log'
Then try installing direct x 9oc again and then check the event log again.
