i have windows vista
and i installed McAffe antivirus
and when it finished the computer restarted
and now i get 2 error messages
1.
explorer.exe - Application error
the application failed to initialize properly(oxc0000005) click ok to terminate

2.
You are about to be logged off
Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. please save your work now

how do i fix this? i looked online and found similar topics, but none for this exact one

ansmwke,

Lets get your system running first.

Reboot into Safe mode:
Restart Windows after you see the BIOS screen and before Windows starts to load.
Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears.
Use the Arrow key to ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

Click Start > Run > type:
msconfig and press enter
Go to the Startup tab and uncheck anything to do with McAfee click Apply/OK and reboot to normal mode.

Now go to this select you product and see if there are any patches for vista.
