Vista Activation Help!!

Postby katjaneway » Thu Nov 29, 2007 5:00 am

I am running Windows Vista and recently bought a SATA 320G hard drive. It gave me software to copy everything, even Windows, onto the new HD. I tried it, and it would not complete. (Windows would restart and give me a dead screen instead of going to whatever screen it needed to start copying everything over) Anyway, with that said, I decided to just install Vista onto the new HD, and after 3 days, it says "activation failed because I am already using the product key" on the other HD. My question is (unless anyone knows how to image my HD over) if I format the 80G, and wipe Vista off of there, will it get rid of the Activation Key and allow me to now use Vista on the SATA drive???
Help!
Thanks

Thanks for the info. I decided to call Microsoft and reactivate Vista... it seemed easier at this point cuz I'm just about through copying everything I need over anyways. I mean, from what I've read about the License Agreement, having only 1 Windows in use is the important thing. If you can't buy a new HD and delete the old Windows/activation code, then they've made it more difficult than it has to be. It seems too easy to be able to lie to those people on the phone. "Oh yeah, it's on only one machine, I promise!" lol
