Pc Crashing

Postby venney » Sun Mar 29, 2009 8:45 pm

I have had this problem for a while I think, so I’m finally going to post it.

My pc random crashes sometimes when i click on folders/icons from my non-OS hard drive. For example, my third HDD (1TB) has all my uni work in it, as i was tidying i created a new folder, double clicked to go inside and crash - pc restarts itself. This can happen at any point and i have no idea why.

I also plugged a friends external HDD into my pc via usb, and that seemed to make it crash constantly if i had more than one hard drive folder showing. Here is a screen shot of the event viewer, i think the top error is directly related to the crash, as 18.58 was the time the pc crashed.

and

I don’t really know why it’s doing it, in fact I have no idea at all.

Thanks

venney,

From within your control panel, select Administration Tools, now select Services.
Scroll down until you see the Universal Plug and Play Device Host Service.
Double click the Universal Plug and Play Device Host Service and select Auto from the Startup drop down.
Click Ok and restart the system, that should resolve the problem.
