text fonts problem

when ever im using any word documents
the txt fonts are always italic
i didnt click the italics icon but still its in italic font
and also the messages in my yahoomessenger are also in italic font

i try the system restore as suggested by my friends but it wont work
i also notice that the names of the icons on my desktop is in bold letters

how can i configure this problem to go back to normal fonts
