"DCOM Server Process Launcher Terminated Unexpectedly"

Postby rd36mnm » Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:30 pm

My laptop just started giving me the error message: "DCOM Server Process Launcher Terminated Unexpectedly" and "Plug and Play service Terminated Unexpectedly" upon startup. Windows launches and shows desktop for a few moments and then shows the above message before doing an automatic reboot. To complicate matters further: 1)This only happens when I am connecting to the internet. For my internet connection, I am tethering to my Blackberry using Verizon broadband for connection. 2.) and here is the real kicker, it only happens when I use the USB ports on the right side of laptop. If I use USB ports on left side of laptop, I can connect and work like normal. This is something new that has not happened in the past. I am totally perplexed. I am running Vista 64 bit. Can someone help?

With it being Vista 64, it leaves me not being able to comment like i normally would. I havent been cursed with the Vista 64 experience yet. I would normally say to check for driver/software updates but in your case your lucky theres a working driver at all. As far as it only working on one side, the only thing ive experienced close to that is ive had devices not work in side or front ports because the voltage is slightly lower than if plugging straight into a board. This could be partially related to you, if the usb connections on that side are powered via ribbon cable/wired and not a straight hub on the board itself. its certainly one to scratch your head over, sorry im not much help with this one.

Thank you for your input. This is indeed a stumper, especially since all was well with it before. It is only a few months old.
