I couldn't tell you the last time I used my cdrom drive but I went to try and install a program yesterday received the error message "The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000006)." I tried a few other cds and got the same result. I checked the even viewer and I am getting Event ID 51: "An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation" and Event ID 7: "The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block."
Someone recommended to me this had to do with the .Net Framework, so I tried reinstalling that with no success. Next I tried updating the cdrom drivers with no success. Finally I tried deleting the drive altogether from device manager and allowing it to reinstall automatically. This did not work either.
I am running an HP Pavilion zv6000 with a TSSTcorp CD/DVDRW TS-L532M drive. I currently have Windows XP and have not done any major installs, deletions or modifications that I can think of that may have caused this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
