Reinstalled windows, Can't connect to router/internet

Postby DarkSoul » Tue Aug 17, 2010 7:55 pm

I'm not sure what happened here, but I access the internet on my network through a router.

I got the parite.b virus and had to reinstall windows.

After reinstalling windows I'm now having problems and am unable to get that computer back online.

The only thing that would have changed is the mac address as I had been using a different mac address in the NIC properties to get a different IP.

the icon in the notification area is there and says im connected, but I can't access the internet or the router admin page from that computer. I can however access the other computers on my network.

I got the router admin from the computer I'm using now, which is also connected to the same router, and I removed the reservation I had for the main computer(the one with the problem now) and set the mac address under the DHCP settings to the current address of the computer but still cannot access the internet using either IE or FF3.

I can't figure this out, has anyone had this happen before?

have you tried assigning it an ip address with the routers ip as a gateway?

it must be pulling an ip or it wouldnt see the other machines on the network but the gateway ip is where its getting lost.
