UltraVNC is maybe not the best solution and here is why.
If you are forwarding a port from the router to the PC that's running VNC server, as it sounds like you are, then anyone on the internet who attempts a VNC connection to that static IP address would get forwarded to the PC and get a username/password prompt. At that point a password cracker could get someone in and gain control of the system.

You mentioned Malware removal in your post, this also could be a point of entry if all the infections were not fully removed. Upon reboot the system could become reinfected and allow access through a trojan or become part of a bot-net.

Both of these could explain the slow down or the desktop problem.

If the system is XP pro then you could setup a VPN that way you could stop the port forwarding and just use the VPN to connect to the system and then use ultravnc to manipulate it.

I agree overheating would not cause a slow down.

Just had a thought, what browser are you using on the kiosk and is there any flash within this website?
I've seen the new flash player version crash older versions of IE and Firefox if left running a long time

Hi Gecko,

No flash is running on the localhost website, I have checked that also.

Also, I am now using LogMeIn instead of UltraVNC and is still running after almost 24 hours, so I'll let it run over the weekend and see how it goes. Might of been a combination of UltraVNC and Kioware (as Kioware is a lockdown type software and probably doesn't like other programs running in the background).
