IE will not open certain hyperlinks

Postby MajorSparky » Mon Sep 12, 2011 9:58 pm

Can someone help me with this Internet Explorer problem.

When using IE in Windows 7, I cannot open certain links on certain websites. For example, when opening googlemail, the mail inbox opens alright, but then selecting the calendar opens a new tab but nothing loads in that tab (`connecting...' appears in the tab, but nothing else happens). Similarly, when inputting data to sell an item on ebay, clicking on a `load photograph' button (which should open a `browse' button) does nothing.
In an effort to solve this, I have tried the following, all without success:-
1) restarting windows
2) removing IE9 and reverting to IE8
3) starting IE with `no addons'
4) deleting all cookies, history, cache etc
5) removing all toolbars
6) running a virus/malware/registry scan
7) restoring to an earlier date (unfortunately only one week previously is possible)

I have tried Firefox and Chrome, and with both the abovementioned links work without problems.

Any suggestions (apart from the obvious one of dumping IE) would be welcome.

Hi MajorSparky

Usually if Firefox works and IE doesn't, its a good sign that you have some malware running amok

Download Malwarebytes and run it, here is a link say no to the full version and do the updates and run it without rebooting.
