Outlook Express problem

Postby noby » Sun Mar 14, 2004 8:15 am

I have a strange problem with OE6 : When I transferred the client data to a new XP machine, I copied all the dbx files into the proper location for OE6, and that worked fine. Because of tardy deliveries, the client worked a week with the old machine, and put all new entries in OE into a folder New. Now the new machine is complete and I copy the folder New into the good location, but when I start OE6, I still don't see the New folder, I see all the others

any ideas about how to fix this?

In Windows Explorer go Tools/Folder Options/View and see if its a hidden file. Untick "Show hidden files and folders"

Try this: On the new WinXp machine remove that New.dbx folder to your Desktop or someplace. Then open OE and create a folder and name it "New".
Now close OE. Go into the folder and rename the newly created file to New.old. Next put your other New.dbx back in the folder.
Open OE.
Did that do it?

Well Brad,

your solution (mar 14) certainly worked for OE 5 and Win98. I did not get a result with OE 6 and XP. There are some little points about it I want to clear up first, and then I'll post back
