huge problems

Postby leeegglestone » Mon May 24, 2004 10:10 pm

I tried installing some creative software for my new creative nomad zen extra 30gb mp3player and its totally messed up my pc. First it gave me a warning about my windows wouldnt like it or something, and i have win xp

Once it had installed, when i selected the section to transfer files across to the player it would crash and close the prog, i then uninstalled it all and rebooted.

Then i couldnt bootup properley

First would get vrtual memory too low msg box, after click ok get a
windows product activation, a problem is preventing window accuratley checking the licence for the computer error code x8007007e
then a parse msg box saying value creation failed.
I rebooted and got a screen where i could choose Lee or Home which i would never get before today, tried home but got msg app failed to initialise properley (0xc000012d)click ok to terminate

Then booted in safe mode, tried selecting home but it would just give me the options again and not load anything. Rebooted and tried as administration in safe mode, got booted up and removed few things for startup list that thought was from my mp3player software and restarted. Then had msg a copy of windows needs to be activated before login, said yes then provided login list again, going around in circles, then was told some files are missing or damaged.

I then used my win xp cd and went ahead with reinstalling windows xp, and saved it aw windows2 so that i could have a chance of not loosing everything on my pc. after ages of installing it and adding all my aol broadband software, i finally managed to get back up and running and the internet working.
I found some files on my pc thru the c: drive however cant find a folder with the favourites stored which i had before, anyone know where these are?

Everythings a bit of a mess now, when boot up have gotta choose win xp home or win xp professional as i had to install a diff version this time around

Is there any way i can get the previous installed version to work?
I know i probs need to do a clean install but didnt want to lose all my files first.

Can anyone offer me some help, to find the favourites, and also sort everything out so i can go back to the previous installed OS

thanks

Lee

PS sorry if everythings muddled up, its been a nightmare, cant even access my pc forums sites to post this as they were on my favourites list lol

Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore. Choose a date previous to the install.
