Reboot Problem

ok this is giving me problems aswell now
no1 when i put the xp disk in it starts to reinstall but when the com needs to reboot to continue it wont continue instead it goes back to the start of set up as if i have just put the disk in

no2 my pc didnt come with a seperate xp disk it was already installed when i got it so a friend gave me a copy of his but i have been told that i wont be able to install updates is this true?

oh yeah i am having to go to my mums and use her pc to post any messaegs
