File permissions issues

Postby ansmwke » Tue Nov 09, 2010 6:38 pm

Hello-

I have an old windows 2000 file share and a new Windows 2008 R2 file share at my work. I am looking to move everything to the new file share while preserving the permissions.

The trouble is the windows 2000 file share is on our old domain, lets call it domain1.com. The new Windows 2008 R2 file share is on our new domain, lets call it domain2.com.
The old file share has permissions for domain1.com and domain2.com. When i use robocopy to copy everything over it has a bunch of unknown (S-1-5-21-#'s) accounts in the security for the files and folders. This is something i expected as the new file share isnt part of the old domain (which we are retiring). Is there a way to 1. copy over permissions JUST for the domain2.com domain or 2. run some time of scan/script/batch file that would remove all unknown account permissions on the files and folders once everything is copied over?

Thank you
Ryan
