Error loading Operating System.

I was playing Divinity 2, the game suddenly stuttered 4-5 times and my computer froze.

I wasn't running that many applications or anything.

I decided to restart my computer, but I could no longer get back into windows as every time I restart I'dl get the following error: "Error loading operating system."

I've got a windows Xp cd, I slot that into the machine. I hit any key when it asks me too. I get to a black screen for about 8 minutes...FINALLY It reaches the blue screen, accesses the cd where it prepares files and whatnot to run a repair or a format or whatever. But it never actually gets to a screen where I can interact and make a choice instead I get a blue screen of death. With the following error code on it: 0x0000007E

I've got 3gigs of ram.
Asus ENGT240 Graphics card
Asus P5KPL/EPU


I've never endured any issues before, not until now. I've been using this computer for gaming, close to two years now.

I'd really appreciate some help.

sounds like your HDD may have quit. Go into your bios and see if its seeing your drive.

You could have a bad stick of memory. Take out half and see if it boots up. It it doesn't boot, remove the memory in it and put in the sticks you already removed.

make sure you unplug the power cord before removing the memory. The motherboard has power to it even when it is off.

If you have access to another computer and can burn a cd, here is a link to an ISO that you can burn that will test your memory on boot.
