Need help finding and deleting an infected file.

Postby thug » Wed Mar 24, 2004 6:28 am

I recently downloaded the free version of AVG and on the first scan found several files that were infected with Worm/Steph. Majority of files were healed and one I had to enter safe mode to delete, now I'm getting an infected file notification for a file that I have no idea how to get to. Couldn't even find it in my hidden files. I was hoping someone here would recognize a folder or file name or something and would be able to tell me how to get it off my system. Here's the location:

C:\System Volume Information\_restore{xxxxxxx}\RP162\A0015088.exe

When I run AVG it doesn't seem to heal or delete that file, but it keeps letting me know that it's infected. Thanks.

You need to disable system restore then run your virus scanner again.

So that worm is harmless. Guess that makes sense since nothing has ever gone wrong with my computer since it's been there. I'll disable the system restore tonight and scan again. Thanks for the info liljim.
