Can a computer be Exorcised?

OK I have worked with computers for about 7 years now and now pretty much how to do everything with them,, as far as building and what not,, I have never seen anything like this,,

I upgraded my computer to a brand new Pentium 4 3 GIG with a Asus MoBo, new 512 ram, new power supply,, new everything on this system. I basically had an original problem with system freezing. I replaced and rewiped the system with every new installation of a new part,, I know,, kinda overkill,, but i like starting fresh,,

After replacing , now everything on it,, except the case,, beleive it or not,, the system freezes up still,, I am now waiting for a new P4 chip from Intel. The only thing i think it could be is the CPU. Let me give you an idea of the software involved.

I recently got into dvd burning and making copies of movies i own. I make copies and in the middle of burning the entire system froze. This was the start of it,, then it froze in windows explorer,, then in IE, then using a simple Musicmatch jukebox music program,, not much drain on the old cpu here,,

I replaced the MoBo with the new Asus,, and then only the dvd program froze and i could move the mouse around and open and close other programs,, But alas, it still froze using simple programs,,Keep in mind,, im running XP Home edition and nothing major, or too involved. I even installed extra fans for better heat removal.

I thought it could be the dvd burner itself,, so that too was replaced,, only to find the problem still continued,, so by eliminating all the hardware,, I can only assume I have a bad copy of XP,, but i have run this particular cd with no problem for years,,before,, ok maybe not so much a bad copy,, but perhaps a bad upgrade. or something,,

Does anyone have any other insight as to why this could be happening,, and has anyone else had freezing problems,, like mine, ? Also before i forget,, i am running all these other programs, flawlessly on my AMD computer and no freezing of any kind,, so i know its the not these particular programs. I am just curious as to why these programs are kinda picky with Intel.

Is there anything in the event log when it freezes? Are you monitoring temperatures on the system to make sure they are not too high? What is the rating on the PSU? Do the freezes happen in safe mode?

get your windows manual, read it backwards while burning a linux cd... that should chase those demons out.

Sounds like a bad power-supply.. I'd start with that.. Don't care if its new or not. I've run into this problem with new power-supplies.. I only buy supplies from PC-Power-and-Cooling now..
